This easy Green Tea Fudge combines creamy white chocolate with earthy matcha for a smooth, elegant homemade treat. With just a few simple ingredients and no candy thermometer required, it is perfect for holidays, gifting, tea parties, or an easy make-ahead dessert.
Ingredients
- 3 cups 510 g white chocolate chips
- 1 can 14 oz / 397 g sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch fine sea salt
Instructions
- Line an 8-inch (20 cm) square baking pan or loaf pan with parchment paper, allowing some parchment to extend over the sides for easy lifting later.
- Add the white chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and unsalted butter to a medium saucepan. Warm over low heat, stirring continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture looks smooth and creamy.
- Take the saucepan off the heat. Gradually whisk in the sifted matcha powder until it is completely incorporated and the mixture has an even green color with no visible lumps.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and fine sea salt, stirring until everything is evenly blended.
- Transfer the fudge mixture to the prepared pan. Use a spatula to spread and smooth the top into an even layer.
- Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for 2 to 3 hours, or until the fudge is completely firm.
- Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the chilled fudge out of the pan. Transfer it to a cutting board and slice into 25 small squares.
- Serve immediately or transfer the pieces to an airtight container. Keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
For the smoothest Green Tea Fudge, sift the matcha before adding it and melt the white chocolate mixture over low heat only. White chocolate can scorch easily, so slow heating and constant stirring are the keys to a silky texture.
