This Golden Baked Chicken is creamy, cheesy, and oven-baked to perfection. Tender chicken breasts are layered with provolone cheese, topped with a rich parmesan sauce, and finished with a buttery cracker crust that bakes up beautifully golden. It’s a simple, comforting dinner that delivers big flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup finely grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup crushed buttery crackers (such as Ritz)

Instructions

Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set it aside.

In a small bowl, mix together the seasoned salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried thyme. Season both sides of the chicken breasts evenly with the spice blend, then arrange them in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.

Place two slices of provolone cheese over each chicken breast, covering the surface evenly.

In a separate bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, and grated parmesan cheese until smooth. Spoon and spread this creamy mixture generously over the cheese-topped chicken.

Finish by sprinkling the crushed buttery crackers evenly over the top, creating a crisp, golden crust as it bakes.

Bake uncovered for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the topping is golden brown. The chicken is done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Let rest for a few minutes before serving, then enjoy this rich and comforting baked chicken straight from the oven.
