  • In a large skillet, brown the ground sirloin over medium-high heat. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Drain excess fat, then stir in the spaghetti sauce. Simmer on low until ready to layer.

Step 2: Make the Cheese Mixture

  • In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, and softened cream cheese.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of Parmesan and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  • Mix until smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Cook the Noodles

  • Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions (about 10 minutes).
  • Drain and lay flat on a tray to cool and prevent sticking.

Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna

  • Lightly grease a deep 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom.
  • Layer 3 noodles, followed by ⅓ of the meat sauce and ⅓ of the cheese mixture.
  • Smooth gently with a spoon.

Step 5: Add the Cheeses

  • Sprinkle ⅓ of the cheddar and mozzarella over the cheese mixture.
  • Add a touch of Parmesan for extra flavor.
  • Repeat layers two more times, ending with noodles on top.

Step 6: Final Cheese Layer

  • Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese, covering evenly.

Step 7: Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
  • For a crisp top, broil on low for 5–8 minutes, watching closely.

Step 8: Rest and Serve

  • Let the lasagna rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve hot with garlic bread and a fresh salad.
