If you want fresh bread but don’t want to use the oven, you can make homemade bread in the air fryer with this simple recipe.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup water (at 110°F or 43°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or more as needed)
Directions:
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a bowl, combine the sugar, active dry yeast, and warm water. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the olive oil and the yeast mixture. Stir until a ball of dough forms.
- Knead the Dough:
- On a floured surface, knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- First Rise:
- Grease a bowl and place the dough inside. Cover with a damp towel and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Prepare for Frying:
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (180°C). Punch down the risen dough and form it into a loaf shape. Place the formed dough on parchment paper.
- Second Rise:
- Let the shaped dough rise for another 30 minutes.
- Air Fry the Bread:
- Carefully place the parchment paper with the risen dough into the air fryer basket. Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool and Slice:
- Remove the bread from the air fryer and let it cool on a rack before slicing.
Enjoy a slice of freshly baked bread prepared in the air fryer. For added flavor, incorporate your favorite herbs, seeds, or seasonings into the dough before baking.
