Strawberry Bombs

Ingredients:

  • 300g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 45g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 7g dry yeast
  • 140 ml (3/5 cup) hot milk
  • 40 g (1/4 cup) softened butter

For the decoration:

  • Whipped cream
  • Chopped strawberries
  • Granulated sugar

Preparation:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine sugar, yeast, and hot milk. Stir until the sugar and yeast are dissolved.
  2. Whisk the egg. Add the flour and salt, and begin kneading the dough with a spatula. Continue kneading with your hands until you achieve an elastic dough.
  3. Add the softened butter to the dough and knead until the butter is fully incorporated.
  4. Form the dough into a ball, cover with a tea towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise for an hour.
  5. Divide the dough into eight equal parts and shape each into a ball. Cover and let them rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Gently flatten each ball and then roll it back into a ball shape. Cover and let them rest for another 30 minutes.
  7. Fry the dough balls in hot oil over low heat for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Allow the fried dough balls to cool slightly, then cut them in half lengthwise, like burger buns.
  9. Garnish one half with whipped cream and chopped strawberries, then top with the other half. Sprinkle with granulated sugar and serve.
